A Welcome Message from the IG [Text-only Version]

Hello. I’m Rob Storch, and I’m honored to serve as the Inspector General at the National Security Agency. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to our office’s new, public website, which contains a lot of information about the OIG and its oversight activities.

The NSA is a big federal agency, with important responsibilities, and it’s funded by a lot of taxpayer dollars. The public has a right to know whether its money is being spent wisely, and whether the Agency is exercising its critical national security functions properly and effectively.

Much of the NSA’s work must be done outside the public eye to be effective. That’s why it’s so very important that the public know that the OIG is conducting effective, independent oversight – over a wide range of Agency programs and operations.

Transparency is a bedrock principle for inspectors general, and as the first Presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed IG here at the NSA, I am committed to transparency in the work of our office.

We conduct independent audits, investigations, inspections, and special studies that promote the integrity and the efficiency of NSA operations. Rigorous, independent oversight by the OIG benefits everyone.

To those of us here at the OIG, independence, transparency, integrity, and oversight are much more than buzzwords. They are reality.

This website reflects our core values, providing much more information about the NSA OIG and our work – advancing the cause of good government through independent oversight. I hope you will find the information both useful and engaging.

If you have thoughts about the website, questions, or comments about our work, please feel free to share them by using the “Contact” link.

Thank you for your interest in the work of the NSA OIG.
