ICIG and NSA IG Announce a Joint Review of Oversight at the Intelligence Community Advanced Campaign Cell

The Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (ICIG) and the National Security Agency Office of Inspector General recently announced that they will participate in a joint review of management and intelligence oversight at the Intelligence Community Advanced Campaign Cell.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) established the Intelligence Community Advanced Campaign Cell (IC ACC) in 2014. The IC ACC develops and applies innovative analytic and collection methods, technology, and tradecraft techniques that integrate multiple intelligence disciplines in support of IC efforts against the hardest problems. Specifically, the functions of the IC ACC are to:

  • Leverage current and legacy systems and data, integrate multiple intelligence disciplines, and incorporate expertise from across the IC to develop new collaboration, analytic, and collection tradecraft methodologies and strategies.
  • Fuse disparate data sources from across the IC and Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Ensure that innovative tradecraft methodologies, processes, and tools from all sources are shared across the IC and DoD as appropriate.

The overall objective of the review is to determine whether oversight of the IC ACC ensures that processes and procedures are in place to conduct operations that comply with IC and DoD policies, including the protection of civil liberties and individual privacy rights.
